Of course, you don’t have to work in an organization to use these features. Organizations can even have dedicated collections for teams. You’ll be given the option to get a link you can share with people or to share the collection privately with an organization you’ve set up. You can share any collection by hitting the Share link to its right. Toby works great as a tab and bookmark manager, but it’s real strength lies in its sharing and team features. This is great for reopening a session you saved, or reopening a collection of related tabs. You can also open all pages in a collection at once by clicking the “Open x Tabs” button. And the page stays saved in your collection until you remove it manually-they’re more like bookmarks than suspended tabs in that way. You can open any page by just clicking it. The image below shows all those tabs saved as a session, which is named by the date and time they were saved, by default. You can also click the “Save Session” button to save the whole list of tabs to it’s own session collection, which you can later reopen all at once or individually. You can drag any tab there into a collection to close the tab and save it as part of that collection. You can keep all of your tabs open while still saving memory. To open a second page as a tab, just click on the + sign next to the first tab or right-click on. The downside, however, is that tabs will remain open in the background and continue chewing through RAM, thus slowing the system overall-that’s the entire reason this feature exists in the first place. Launch Chrome on your computer and open a web page. If you have a system with ample RAM, it’s probably okay to go ahead and disable this RAM-saving feature if you want. So if you disable the Auto Discard feature, and then close the tab, the Auto Discard preference is destroyed with the tab’s instance. Im actually having the exact issue with a client of mine located in Dallas, TX. Even if you open a new tab with the same page loaded, you’ll have to disable the Auto Discard feature again. Use The Great Suspender for More Control Over Tab Sleeping It can get kind of tedious to constantly keep an eye on these settings, so if you’re really into the idea of customizing the tab discarding feature, you’ll want leave this alone and just use a Chrome extension. If you find that your system slows too much with Tab Discarding disabled or just generally want more control, you have another option: a Chrome extension called The Great Suspender. This is actually the extension that was used as the inspiration for the tab discarding feature, which is pretty cool. It’s also significantly more customizable on the user end.
